Want to See a State Assocation that “Gets It”?

The Virginia Association of Realtors gets it.
And I don’t mean just because they have a blog — VARBuzz.
I mean they get it because they have an actively engaged leadership team, staff and members.
Clearly these folks are leading the way.
If you know of another association, be it state or local, that is as engaged as the VAR, I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks so much, Jay, for your kind words. As President of VAR I have to say it is an exciting Association. As I told our folks on Strategic Planning we not only want to get out of the box…we want to get off the truck the box is in!
We have a dynamic Leadership Academy (in our 4th year) that feeds new energy into our membership. We have a Your Virginia campaign just starting to partner with the property owners in Virginia as their advocate in the legislative arena! We have a Code Is Good Business program that is raising the level of professionalism and ethics among our Realtors! It’s Good Here In Virginia!
When VAR hired Ben I told Scott Brunner the CEO that it was the best hire they had made in many years. Scott doesn’t really get blogs, but he does know what he doesn’t know and hired someone who did.
The Charlottesville Assocaition - thanks to Jim Duncan and some other great bloggers gets it, but is only 50% implemented. Currently the CAAR Blog (which can be seen at caar.com) is okay, but needs to be developed a bit. We should be fully implemented in a few months.
By the way, Pat Jensen, the VAR Prez, is a CAAR member. We are so proud of her leadership.
Thanks for stopping by Pat!
What is it, something special in the water in Virginia?
Seems some great things are coming out of Charlottesville.
Huh. And I was born in Charlottesville.
Coincidence?
Dave Phillips: Self-appointed check on the ego of VAR’s CEO.
VAR’s approach to engaging the members is admirable. They make members want to get involved, and their (our) input is typically received in an open-minded way. Getting the “old-guard” to accept the new thinking is transitional, but the progress that I have witnessed in the short time I have been involved has been tremendous.
And … yes, there is something quite special about Charlottesville.
I’m only getting started, people. The best is yet to come.
Hey C’ville remember some of us live in the Valley of Virginia!
Proud to be a member of VAR & VLA class of 2007.
Jay want to move to VA? I think I may know a REALTOR or 2 that could help you relocate.
