Planet Cluetrain on the NAR

Greg Swann at Bloodhound kinda sorta wants to go to the NAR convention in Las Vegas to address the crowd on what is wrong with the NAR.
I’d pay money to see that. A lot of money.
I’m going to Vegas in November, and I’m going to make it my single mission to find Pat Combs (NAR President) and ask her to reach out to Greg. I’m sure I’ll be wildly unsuccessful, but I’m gonna give it hell.
The NAR needs to listen to people like Greg.
I’m not holding my breath though…

As of the end of the convention, Pat Combs is no longer the president. You’d be better trying off to find Dick Gaylord who will become president. Althought, you may have similar luck.
Jay, I’m placing this comment here, because the poll doesn’t have a comment area… How about creating a poll asking people what R.com charged them this year for enhanced listings,,, and what R.com quoted them for the upcoming year?
Asking the question “Are “Enhanced Listings” on Realtor.com worth the cost?” doesn’t lead anywhere without knowing what the cost is.
While we haven’t received business directly from R.com, I think a visible presence there is worth some cost … but it probably is NOT worth what they will quote me when I am up for renewal in January.
P.S. Yes, Greg should speak at Las Vegas. Absolutely. If he has an ethical dilemma with NAR paying his way, I’d certainly contribute to a grass roots collection to pay his way.
That’s a great idea Cheryl. Problem is, I”m not sure how to structure the question. I *think* the poll can be set up for the user to add their own answer, but if a lot of people take it, it quickly becomes unmanageable. Let me ponder that a bit…
How about something like:
My r.com fee this year was
_ 2500-3000
_ 3000-4000
and
For upcoming year, r.com quoted me
_ 10,000-15,000
_ 15,000-20,000
Or whatever price ranges seem right to you for the answer selections….
It is one thing to write about NAR but actually talking to them is a different matter.
